3 Things A Chiropractor Can Help Do To Help Pregnant Women
Many pregnant women see a chiropractor, and with good reason. Chiropractors have many skills and techniques that can help expectant woman relieve pain, and prepare their bodies for labor and delivery. Here are some things that a chiropractor can do for pregnant women.
1. Open Up The Hip Flexors
One of the main complaints pregnant women have is that their hips hurt. This is because the hips are constantly feeling the pressure of the baby pushing down, especially toward the end of the pregnancy. In order to relieve this pain the baby needs to be position properly and the hips need to open correctly. This is also very important for delivery. For example, if the hips do not properly separate during delivery it can cause the baby to have a difficult time getting through the birth canal. Consequently, this puts the mother at risk for a c-section. Ideally, the hips should separate and open during the actual delivery and then move back into place after. A chiropractor can help to achieve that.
2. Position The Baby Correctly
Another problem that can occur during pregnancy is the baby being positioned correctly for delivery. The ideal position is anterior position which means the baby's back is facing out and the face of the baby is toward the mother's back and spine. However some babies turn so that they are posterior, meaning their back is toward the mother's back, or they become breach when means that their head isn't down, their bottom is down. This is very dangerous for delivery and most likely will require a c-section.
A chiropractor can help to relax the muscles around the uterus so that the baby can properly move so that they are in the anterior position. By doing this is will make delivery easier on both the mother and the baby.
3. Relieve Head Aches
Lastly, a chiropractor can help to relieve headaches during pregnancy. If the body is out of alignment the mother will carry the majority of the weight on one side of her body. This could cause problems with her vascular system, which means more head aches. Having the body in perfectly alignment will be optimal for blood flow so that there is no head pain. An alignment can also be great for back pain as well.
These are just a few things that a chiropractor can do for pregnant women. If you are pregnant you should consider meeting with a chiropractor by Cabana Court Chiropractic or another practice.
